Leuphana Sustainability Summit - Enabling a Transdisciplinary Approach
Call for Papers: Abstract submission deadline: November 7th, 2011

  • The event will take place from February 29th to March 2nd 2012 in Lüneburg, Germany. It focuses on three leading questions: 

    1. What insights about the role of transdisciplinarity for sustainability transitions have we gained over the last 10 years?
    2. What gaps in research still remain?
    3. How can we fill these gaps?

    These guiding questions will focus the debates in workshops, plenary and parallel sessions in four topical areas: Biodiversity, Global Sustainability, Education, and Corporate Sustainability.

New UNESCO publication: "Education for Sustainable Development - An Expert Review of Processes and Learning"

  • Prof. Daniella Tilbury (University of Gloucestershire, UK), chair of UNESCO Global Monitoring and Evaluation Expert Group for the UN DESD, is the author of this publication commissioned by UNESCO. 
    This literature review was commissioned as part of a global review process which is seeking to identify which commonly accepted learning processes are aligned with ESD and should be promoted through ESD-related programmes and activities. It also examined which learning opportunities contribute to sustainable development.

    • Dr. Maik Adomßent from Leuphana University Lüneburg recently published an article in the journal "Zeitschrift für internationale Bildungsforschung und Entwicklungspädagogik" (ZEP) that can be downloaded here (German language):

    Council Conclusions on Education for Sustainable Development

    • In October 2010 the Council of the European Union adopted conclusions for ESD. The document (Download) also emphasizes the role of higher education. 

    Good Practice Database – Learning for Sustainable Development

    • An online database containing examples of innovative practice for Learning for Sustainable Development has been developed in the context of 3-LENSUS (Lifelong Learning Network for Sustainable Development), a project within the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Union.     • A COPERNICUS Alliance flyer is now available for download. Please feel free to distribute it among your networks.

    "World Sustainable Development Teach-In Day"

    • The WSDTID was a virtual event that offered information on sustainable development provided by experts on December 3rd 2010. Presentations and videos are still available and can be downloaded at the website. There is also a contribution by/about the COPERNICUS Alliance (Link) which was official partner of this event.
